SPF, which abbreviates Sender Policy Framework, is a certification system that aims at protecting against the so-called email counterfeiting. Basically, it indicates sending some message from one e-mail address and making it appear to be sent from another with the idea to scam in some way the individual opening it. In case the SPF protection is active for a domain name, a record which includes all the mail servers authorized to send messages with addresses under the domain is created. The record is kept on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic worldwide, so that they all will recognize whether an email message comes from an authentic server or not. The verification is performed at the first server where the e-mail goes through and in the first case the email message is forwarded, whereas in the second it is discarded and it never reaches the supposed recipient. Using SPF records for your domain names will stop all unauthorized people from using your emails for harmful purposes.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain name hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a few clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our amazing Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to enable it is to pick one of your domains from a drop-down menu and then type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be authorized to send email messages from your emails. As an added option you may also restrict the emails to be sent from your domain only when it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This feature will give you the best level of protection, but it's not applicable when only your site is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain are handled elsewhere. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes as standard with all of our Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages, provides you with an incredibly intuitive interface to activate the SPF protection service for any domain that you host in your new account. A couple of clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you'll only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send out messages from your e-mails. If the email messages are handled by us and not by another supplier, you can boost the protection level even further and activate an option for all of the outgoing e-mail messages to be sent only if your domains include our MX records. This option provides you with better control and it will eliminate any chance of anybody faking your email addresses with the objective of spamming and scamming people. It is not applicable when only your website is hosted on our hi-tech cloud hosting platform, while your e-mails are handled by a different provider. If you aren't sure what features to pick, our technical support crew will assist you 24/7.
